Newlove Wenig selected for Hall of Fame

Cathy Newlove Wenig has joined her parents, Lydia and John Newlove, in the Hall of Fame for the Wood County Board of Realtors.
Wenig's selection was announced Saturday at the 49th annual Wood County Board of Realtors dinner at Stone Ridge Golf Club.
She has been a Realtor since 1980 and a broker in trust.
Wenig was cited for her years of community involvement, including serving as president of the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce and being honored by the chamber as its Athena Award recipient.
She also has served as president of the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club and has been on several boards, including com

Sondra King of A.A. Green Realty Inc., has been named Realtor of the Year by the Wood County Board of Realtors.
The announcement was made Saturday at the 49th annual Wood County Board of Realtors dinner at the Stone Ridge Golf Club.
A Realtor for 13 years, King has been active with the Wood County Board of Realtors, having served as president of the board, a former director and as a member of a half dozen board committees.
She has also been active as a member of the Toledo Board of Realtors.
Her community involvement includes the American Cancer Society planning committee and life team captain, Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, Bowling Green Leadership Class, Bowling Green delegate committee, golf outing volunteer, Bowling Green High School PTO officer from 2009 to 2011, Bowling Green Boys Soccer Club treasurer and Bowling Green Middle School PTO officer.
King also has been a trustee for First United Methodist Church of Bowling Green.
She and her husband, Dean, have one son, a daughter and a granddaughter.

They all list the many benefits to the individual and society that result from home ownership.
Following are just a few of those benefits:
• Homeowners take on a greater responsibility in the community, such as home maintenance.
• Membership in voluntary organizations and church attendance increase.
• Civic participation in both local community and national issues (including voting) go up.
• Homeowners have been shown to have a greater attachment to the neighborhood and neighbors, and increase their charitable activity.
• Homeowners are three times likely to own a business than renters.
The financial benefits to home ownership are huge. Putting money into something you own rather than giving it to a landlord, as well as the tax deduction, have great benefits.
Homeowners also support many businesses in the course of maintaining their homes, which is good for the economy in general.

On the eve of the 100th anniversary of the Great Ohio Flood of 1913, the state's most devastating weather disaster, Lieutenant Governor and Department of Insurance Director Mary Taylor is reminding Ohioans the importance of evaluating their need for flood insurance and understanding how to secure it.
Taylor said that financial protection against flood damage is not included in a standard homeowners or renters insurance policy.
